Robert Pope has an extensive knowledge of the LNG for transport sector in Australia, having previously worked as the LNG business development manager for BOC Limited – the largest provider of gas technology to the global market. Robert also has experience in the commercialisation of new technologies within the Australian market having been at the forefront of innovation within the Australian heat treatment industry.

Robert has spent the majority of his long career working in the Australian metals, chemicals and industrial gas markets. His early roles were largely technical but the latter part of his career included senior sales and marketing roles with BOC.

Since joining Rare, Robert has been involved with the assessment of the merits of investment in the supply of LNG for road transport applications in south-eastern Australia. This work extends to development of the production concept, assembly of the economic evaluation, and development of the supporting market engagement strategies. Robert’s deep knowledge of the national gas industry means that he is well placed to understand the strategic drivers of the LNG for transport market in Australia.

Robert has been a past President of the Sydney Institute of Metals and Materials (IMMA) and sat on the National Board of IMMA for several years.
