Associate Director
Mark Gjerek manages Rare Consulting's Brisbane office and is responsible for business development as well as managing projects for a variety of corporate and government clients. Mark is also the co-ordinator for Vehicle Technology and Fuels, one of Rare's three core service areas.
Prior to joining Rare Consulting, Mark worked in the automotive industry and the NSW State Government. His strong engineering background results from his diverse roles in the automotive industry. One of these roles was as a product planner for Toyota Australia's passenger car division, developing future model plans. More recently, he worked as a field test engineer in the global truck industry with Volvo Trucks, tracking and developing advanced vehicles and systems at prototype stage.
Combining a technical background with environmental programs experience has allowed Mark to pursue his two passions: transport technology and environmental sustainability. Having worked in both public and private organisations also provides him with a holistic perspective on the contemporary issues connecting transport and the environment. It allows him to evaluate strategic opportunities not just from a technical perspective, but within their industry and community contexts.
Since joining Rare in 2008, Mark has worked on a range of projects ranging from fleet carbon assessments and strategic market reviews to policy development for reducing emissions from automotive repairers.
